Honoring the Life of Steven Johnson
Steven Harvey Johnson son of Mildred and the late Frederick Johnson, was born on April 16, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York.
Steven attended Grady High School and later enrolled in the United States Navy and served during the Gulf War and Peacetime Era from January 1989 to August 1991. Steven later went on to work as a security guard for many notable companies in New York City, including Barnes & Nobles.
Steven was introduced to baseball at the young age of 5. He was mesmerized by the action on the baseball field and, from that point on, he became an avid baseball fan. Steven’s favorite team was the New York Mets, which he would affectionately call the Amazing Mets. Steven encouraged all his family and friends to become Mets fans. Most of his nieces and nephews developed a love of baseball because of him. Steven was a simple, easy-going, nice, humble, respectful person. He always knew what to say, especially during times when a friend or family member needed to be comforted. Steven’s sisters often remembered the times when he would walk around and say “I’m Freddy’s son” and then stick his tongue out. That usually happened when he was Feeling Good.
On Tuesday, February 13th 2024 Steven joined the ancestral ranks of his grandmother Corrine Breland, father Frederick Johnson, sister Linda Byrd and Uncle Nathan “Dutch” Breland. Steven leaves to cherish fond memories his mother Mildred Johnson, 3 siblings: Gail, Pamela, Robin; 10 nieces and nephews: Gloria (Kelvin), Marcus (Raul), Keith, Dina (Michael), Katina (Lisa), Sirena (Sam), Terrell (Carey), Craig, Robert and Randi and a host of other family members and friends.
Steven will be missed but will never be forgotten, and he will always live within our hearts.
