Sarah Thompson

February 2, 1949 — August 16, 2020

Sarah J. Thompson, daughter of the late Maggie Mae Harrison and Joseph (Joe) Thompson was born on February 2, 1949 in Bennettsville, South Carolina.

At the age of 19, Sarah relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she completed her education through the New York City Public School system.

Sarah was employed by First Chicago Trust as an administrator.  She then acquired a position with the New York City Transit Authority from which she retired.

Sarah was a loyal member of Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York.

Sarah was a great, loving, and sweet person. She was very family orientated (Family first).  She was known for her amazing cooking skills, passing on recipes to her daughters and granddaughter. Her delicious meals were enjoyed by all those who had the good fortune to have a plate.

Sarah’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her spirit understood that the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which one lives.

Sadly, on Sunday, August 16, 2020, while at the Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, Sarah J. Thompson departed this earthly life and joined the ancestral ranks of her parents and three brothers: King, Jesse and William.  She now leaves to cherish fond memories, three beautiful daughters: Sheila, Gabreil, and her baby Regan; three grandchildren who were her world: Danielle, Damon and Dorian, two sons-in-law: Robert and Darryle; two wonderful sisters: Charlene and Mary, all of Brooklyn, NY. Two special nephews: Shancton and Phillip; four special nephews: Kevin, Lamont, Howard and Jason; one niece Lashandra, and her loving Stuckey family, all of whom she adored, all of Bennettsville, South Carolina, niece-in-law, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends all of New York and South Carolina. Love, Love, Love
