Mildred Louise Buggs,
daughter of the late Champ and Lucille Waters-Albright, was born on January 19,
1937 in Sylvania, Georgia, she was their only child.
“Mil” as she was affectionately called, was raised by her Grandma Whitty along with a host of great- aunts, uncles and cousins. Mil graduated from high school and then married Clifford Buggs. Their union was blessed with one son, Keith Buggs.
After travelling with her husband while he was in the military, they settled in Florida. The couple separated and she and her son went back to her mother in Sylvania, Georgia. During that time, she decided to relocate to New York to make a better life, and at the request of her mother, she left Keith in Sylvania to be raised by his grandmother.
While in New York, Mil worked as a domestic house worker along with doing other odd jobs. Later, she and Mr. Buggs divorced. She met Evangelist Ryan, who along with Annie Mae were two of her closest friends. Mil attended Greater Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church in the Bronx, NY under the pastorate of Reverend James Postell
Mil later met her soul mate Mr. Lorenzo Stevenson (Mr. Lo). They were together until his death. After the death of her mother and Mr. Lo, Mil still tried to maintain a cheerful outlook on life. She loved to stop and talk to any and every one of whom she could engage in conversation.
Mildred Louise Buggs departed this earthly life on January 16, 2019. She leaves to cherish fond memories her son Keith; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two goddaughters: Margaretta Scott and Tonia Reddick, best lifelong friends: Sara Caban and Lula Elise Williams, and a host of other family members and friends.
