Michael Allen Alston was born in the Tar Heel State, Louisburg, North Carolina on Dec 28th, 1950, in his grandparents’ home. Michael was always a fighter; He fought coming into this world at exactly at 2.5lbs.  Born to his amazing parents, the late, Mattie Livingstone and Robert Burrell. He would often joke he was their “love child”. He spoke proudly that his dad was the baseball star of the high school, and his mom was the star cheerleader. 

He was raised in North Carolina by his late grandparents, Daniel and Cora Alston, whom he adored. He loved his grandparents immensely; they were his entire world as a child. His grandparents introduced him to God and our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. Michael was always thankful for the relationship he was able to build with God spiritually because of his grandparents.

Michael attended Franklin County Training School in Louisburg, North Carolina from grades K-5. He loved school and was so happy to be attending with his favorite aunt and uncle who were more like siblings Pamela Cheek, Jimmy Alston, and his first cousins Dora Artis and the late Butch Cooley.

At the age of 10, he moved to NYC to be with his mother and older brother, Lemoris Alston. He spoke on being a younger brother and finally living with his mom in the Big ol’ City made him so happy.  Now living with his oldest brother, Lemoris, he always expressed how he now had his “big bro” in his corner!

For Junior HS he attended St.Ambrose Catholic school  in BedStuy Brooklyn , with his brother Lemoris Alston  . Where he learned his daily prayers, discipline and an understanding of religion.

In Highschool  where he attended Sheepshead Bay HS in Brooklyn, he was the star basketball player. One of 2 or 3 of the first African American players on the team. Michael was considered an All-American and known for his wicked jump shot. Michael was exceptionally smart in his studies especially Mathematics.

He became a Teenage Dad on July 13TH 1969 to his beautiful baby girl Tiffany Michelle Stoker with Robin Stoker. He said he got the name from the store Tiffany’s on 5th Ave. He was so proud and happy to be become a Father. He always said he always wanted a daughter and God had blessed him with his first child being Tiffany.

After High School, he attended Kings Borough community college. Soon after started working for Douglas Elliman as a bookkeeper and accountant for nineteen years- His Uncle Norman got him the job and for that he was forever grateful. He enjoyed his job, he loved numbers – they came so easy to him. Coworkers and management enjoyed working with Michael with his calm spirit and positive attitude and a smile that will light up any room.  

In the mid 70’s he met the love of his life Andria Alston. Mike and Andria were inseparable, they started dating and knew they were soulmates from the beginning. They would travel all over the Caribbean together and finally tie the knot June 28th, 1980.

Their wedding was the talk of the town for years, the loved they shared for 51 years total was one of Michael greatest accomplishments. Mike and Andria love story was one that we no longer see anymore and for that he made sure everyone knew “He loved Andria “

On Dec 13TH 1985 they were blessed with a baby girl Carmella Alston – who also came in the world fighting just like her Dad at 2 pounds. Carmella was his pride and joy – Michael was so happy to have yet another beautiful baby girl. He was always right there with her every step of the way!

Michael loved sports; he was a guys guy when it came to any sport. Favorite was baseball he was die hard fan once the METS came to NYC. His other favorite teams were the Knicks and Jets. He would right stats in multiple notebooks of all players since he fell in love with the game.

Mike was known for wearing Jerseys, Varsity Jackets, sweatsuits of all his favorite New York Teams.

Mike also coached various youth basketball teams in Brooklyn, always on the sidelines cheering young teams on!

Later, in his career he worked with Security companies for 15 yrs. Barton Allied – Nursing Homes and the Salvation Army Shelters across NYC. He enjoyed people and being able to help in any capacity he could.

Michael Also lived a beautiful life, he was soft spoken with a wonderful spirit. He can make anyone feel comfortable in his presence.

Surviving to cherish fond memories of Michael his beautiful wife Andria Alston, his daughters Tiffany Stoker and Carmella Alston. Grandchildren Marcus Rubin and Meadow Lily Alston. His brother Lemoris and sis in law Cora Alston and nephew Christopher Alston. A host of Nieces, nephews, cousins’ special relatives and friends.
