Louise Mitchell

Louise Mitchell , daughter of the late Susie Hairston, Robert Lee Hairston, was born on April 14, 1934 in Martinsville Virginia. Louise attended grade school through high school in Martinsville Virginia. After completing high school, she took multiple college courses and later moved to New York City. Soon after her arrival in New York, Louise secured employment with IBM as junior secretary. She worked for IBM for 32 years rising to the position of Senior Executive Secretary.

Louise was very proud to work for IBM and IBM was very proud to have her as part of their family. Upon retirement from IBM, Louise became a social worker for the City of New York where she provided care to those in true need. Louise’s hobbies included visiting, what she referred to as, “kiddie city” the casinos with her friends, and travelling. Louise loved flowers, and she had a special love for her pet cat, “Pris Pris”.

Throughout her life Louise always cared for others. When her mother became ill, she brought her to New York City and provided care for her for over 26 years. When her sisters became ill, she provided care for them. When her nephews attended college, Louise ensured they had all the tools needed to be successful adults.

Sadly, on September 17, 2020 at 3:15 PM, Louise Mitchell departed this earthly life and joined the ancestral ranks of her parents, three sisters and one brother.  She now leaves to cherish fond memories her five nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Those who knew Louise were truly fortunate. You will never meet a more kind, honest and caring soul. She was loved by all who knew her. Her absence is felt to the very core of our family. We love her so.
