Joan Jacqueline Pryce

December 24, 1964 — February 10, 2023

Brooklyn, New York

Joan Bell-Pryce, affectionately known and called by family and friends as “Joanne”, was born on December 24, 1964, in Portland Jamaica West Indies, to Parents Gloria Sylvester & Samuel Bell who are now both deceased.

Joan was always a “go-getter”, ambitious, she valued family and education and as such following her tenure at the Titchfield High School in Port Antonio, left home, starting a family of her own in Kingston, where she gave birth to her first son Cornel (now deceased) and her daughter Shaneka. She later ventured out to England in the late 1980’s in an effort to make a better life for her family, where through her caring spirit and kind demeanor, began a career in patient care, working at a nursing home in Birmingham for a number of years. In 1994, she returned to Jamaica, having a desire to be re-united with her two children and her mother Gloria. After settling some time in Jamaica, Joan gave birth to her third child, Antonio and subsequently, Anika, her fourth would follow. The needs of her children, always came first, and with the many challenging blows that life threw her, she juggled numerous odd jobs, in ensuring that her kids were attended to.

She later migrated to the United States in 2005, when two years later she met and married Calbert Pryce, aka “ginger man” in 2007. Together they made a life working arduously, and Joan of course, was adamant that her children acquire higher education, something that she achieved and was very proud of, as this she knew was the best foundation in starting a good life.

Joan always believed in God and found solace in her church, Hope for all Outreach Center where she served as an usher and she loved it! Her smile as you enter the church would make your day brighter if you were having a bad one.

Joan loved her children and grandchildren and enjoys spending time with them, she took very good care of her grand babies and would often times be seen with them at church or eating out at different dining restaurants which she enjoyed doing. Her favorite thing to do was being with her friends and family with lots of food and reggae music. At family gatherings, you could count on her to drop a few dance moves on the floor, she was the light of the party, our ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
