Elsa Genevieve McAlister-Morinville, beloved daughter of Roy McAlister and Rebecca
Douglas-McAlister, was born on June 18, 1950. She walked the last mile of her earthly journey on
June 1, 2020 and entered into the presence of the Lord. She was born in Layou, St Vincent, West
Indies where she attended Layou Government school. In 1976, she left her beautiful island to reside
in the United States, most recently living in Brooklyn.
Elsa matriculated at Borough of Manhattan Community College. Additionally, she received her
certification as a nurse’s aide. She utilized her training to live a life of dedication and
service, caring for the disabled and elderly. Her work was a reflection of her heart. She was a
very dynamic individual who enjoyed traveling, and spending quality time with her family. Moreover,
she loved being in the house of the Lord. Elsa was most recently a member of Vandaveer Park United
Methodist Church.
Elsa is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Rebecca and her infant daughter Wilma.
She leaves to cherish her memory her six children; Roseclair Thompson (Frederick), Sharon
McAlister, Dennis McAlister (Pheona), LaRose Kelly, Guy Morinville, Jr., and Melissa Morinville,
eleven grandchildren; Terrance Campbell, Rasheed and Cedric Thompson, Deanna, Deandrea,
Dephena, and Gabrielle McAlister, Garfield II and Imani Kelly, Jannai Stafford and Armando Gracia
and one great grandson, Terrance Campbell, Jr., fourteen siblings; Verniece, Edmund, Joan, Julian,
Franklyn, Leon, Wayne, Florence, Jacqueline, Hasting, Annie, Louise, Milton and Luwenda. Aunts:
Caroline, Norma and Florence and uncles; Desmond, Paul, Osborne and George and lots of
other relatives and friends, including her two cousins, like sisters, Sicily and Judith.
